While Vans has traditionally operated under the radar and close to the skate/action sports scene, the brand has grabbed several headlines lately by way of a most unlikely wearer, Kanye West. West has gone so far as to drop a Vans mention on his recently released The Life of Pablo album.
Whether you are a true Vans OG or you learned it from watching Yeezy, Vans has something for you with the recently released Vans "Year of the Monkey" pack. Inspired by the Chinese New Year, the pack features three sneakers, a Vans Sk8-Hi, a Vans Sk8-Hi Slim, and a Vans Half Cab. All three sneakers feature colorways and material makeups that link back to the holiday. The Sk8-Hi ($100) is done in red textured suede with a red stripe. The Sk8-Hi Slim ($115) is done in a premium soft pink leather with a white stripe. And finally, the Half Cab ($90) is done in a multicolored suede and leather mash up.
