Nike celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Air Classic BW this year by bringing out the original version of the shoe and updating it with modern technology.

For the former, it's also dropped a history lesson via these archived Tinker Hatfield design sketches of the shoe. In the drawings, the model is labeled the Air Max 4 (coming after 1990's Air Max 3, the model now known as the Air Max 90). Hatfield's dates reveal that he worked on the shoe in the summer of 1990.
