A 2012 murder over a pair of "Bred" Air Jordan 11s goes to to trial today in Texas.

Neal Bland, one of three suspects charged with theĀ murder of 22-year-old Joshua Woods, is expected to appear in court today, KHOU11 reports.

Anthony Wade and Keagean Arrington, who will go to trial later this month, are also facing capital murder charges.

Woods' mother, Dazie Williams, has started an organization asking sneaker companies to produce more pairs of coveted releases like Air Jordan retros in order to slow sneaker violence. Williams says she received a phone call from Michael Jordan himself about the murder of her son.

"Nike, they have a responsibility in this, and they have to do something and if nothing happens we will see more cases like this, you will see more mothers and fathers like me," Williams said to ABC13. "You will see more mothers and fathers like the accused killers, so we have to do something."
