No love for Miggy.

He's one of baseball's best players and has won four of the last five AL batting titles, but Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera is still having trouble landing a shoe deal.

In a recent interview with Detroit Sports Nation, Cabrera says that he currently has no shoe contract, even with Spring Training rapidly approaching. He even claims that Nike turned him down outright.

The discussion comes up as Cabrera ponders the idea of having his own "Miggy" sneakers with a brand. "I need a sponsor," says the 2012 Triple Crown winner.

Cabrera signed a deal with New Balance the same year he reached the rare milestone, but the two have apparently parted ways. New Balance became the league's official footwear provider in 2011.

A signature sneaker may be a bit lofty of a wish for the 32-year old, but it's hard to imagine that companies are completely uninterested the services of the best hitter in the sport.
