It appears that the adidas Futurecraft program won't only be focused on performance footwear.
Today, the brand teased out what looks like a rebuild of its heralded Superstar tagged as coming from the Futurecraft design approach. The Superstar has had plenty of love from adidas in this big anniversary year for the silhouette, so it's not exactly surprising to see it get more attention.
Adidas promised on social media that there's more to come soon on this Futurecraft Superstar project – hopefully the brand will push out a video introducing the shoes like it did last time.
Adidas has so far been coy about actual retail releases for Futurecraft shoes.
UPDATE 11/05: Adidas has unveiled the Futurecraft Leather Superstar, which releases via a limited 45-pair run on Nov. 7, 2015, at Dover Street Market in New York, London and Tokyo.
The sneaker's upper borrows a digital milling process from the world of industrial manufacturing to create a seamless leather piece. This approach allows adidas greater precision in creating bespoke footwear, which can be milled to different thicknesses at different parts of the shoe to meet the demands of athletes.
Futurecraft Leather embodies adidas' desire to bring in outside collaborators for the Futurecraft program, having been created in conjunction with industrial designer Alexander Taylor and shoe designer Joachim de Callatay.
