Today is a big day at Nike's world headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., as stockholders and analysts have descended on the brand's campus for its first investor day meeting since 2013.

CEO Mark Parker opened today's meeting with remarks about the company's goals going forward, mentioning that Nike is aiming for $50 billion in annual revenue by 2020. The massive number is on pace with Nike's 10 percent median rate of annual growth since 1989, as noted by Matthew Kish.

Parker drew a parallel between Nike's goals and the goals of the athletes they work with.

"That's an ambitious goal, we know that," Parker said. "We make it our daily mission to achieve ambitious goals. We have to, because the athletes we serve set very high goals."

Nike's earnings for the 2015 fiscal year were $30.6 billion.
