When Wieden+Kennedy approached director Spike Lee about shooting his first Air Jordan commercial with Michael Jordan in the 80s, there was just one problem.
"Michael Jordan does not know who the fuck you are," Lee recalls the W+K team telling him.
The quote comes from the above video, which features Air Jordan enthusiasts dishing about their favorite Jordan commercials along with some history from Lee on how his partnership with MJ came to be. As Lee explains in the video, the team at W+K tasked with putting together the commercials first spotted his Mars Blackmon character in She's Gotta Have It, deciding from there that they had to have him.
