It appears that Oakland native Dame Lillard is readying his first signature sneaker collaboration with an apparel brand from his hometown.
Oaklandish doesn't only sell clothing — it uses the proceeds to empower local programs and fund annual grants. The retailer has won numerous Bay Area awards and was named Small Business of the Year by the California State Legislature in 2013.
The adidas D Lillard 1 collab is tipped off by the tree logo, a modified version of the city logo, on the tongue, pull-tab and outsoles. "Oaklandish" is also stitched into the tongue webbing, while the city-wide motto of "All Gas, No Brakes" also appears on the sole.
Expect the black and yellow colorway to release at adidas.com and retailers like Eastbay next Thursday, September 10.
UPDATE 9/9: Official images via adidas. The sneakers will be accompanied by apparel, which will be available at Oaklandish in downtown Oakland (1444 Broadway) and Dimond District (3419 Fruitvale Avenue), as well as online at oaklandish.com.
