October 3 officially marks German Unity Day, an observance of when the Federal Republic of Germany and the Democratic Republic of Germany united to create one single Germany in 1990. And for the 25th anniversary of this monumental moment, Nike is releasing a special sneaker.
The "German Reunification" Nike Air Pegasus 89 Premium is comprised of varying camouflage panels, representing the uniforms worn by the West German Army (Bundeswehr) and the East German Army (NVA). The 5-color disruptive pattern known as Flecktarn serves as the base, while Strichtarn raindrop camo overlays are present on the toe and heel. The insoles are printed with an image of the Brandenburg Gate, along with the dates 1990 and 2015.
Select retailers like Solebox will release the commemorative sneaker next Friday, Oct. 2.
