Remember the Nike access codes rumors from February of last year? The system is back, and Nike is trying it out for the release of the "Rainbow" Flyknit Racer.

Select Nike+ users are receiving emails today with unique access codes that give them the opportunity to buy the sneaker ahead of its Sep. 11 release date. Note that this shoe won't be exclusive to those with access codes, but rather they will have a first chance at them.

Nike actually used the access code approach for the launch of the LeBron 11 "2K14," but hasn't since taken this route. There were rumors of Nike using the system for limited product at around the time of the "Powder Blue" Jordan 10 release in 2014, but nothing ever came of it.

Nike hasn't released any info about future releases being available via access codes.

Anyone with an access code for these sneakers can purchase them via Nike here.
