The ouroboros of the sneaker wold has eaten itself yet again. As Hender Scheme has made a buck off copying—excuse me—paying homage to classic sneakers in natural leather makeups, giants like Adidas and Nike have realized they can do the exact same thing, which is why Adidas decided to drop the natural look onto the Stan Smith with some Horween leather. On the classic low-top and the more unorthodox mid-top, the look is pretty tasty, especially with raw stitching, suede accents and gold trimming. They're not fully leather—the sole is still rubber after all—which may be a turn-off for some devotees, but the contrast between the tan and white works just fine. Leather laces would have also really completed the package, but whatever. Either way, they'll still get that coveted broken-in look after a while as long as you don't push them out of the rotation with an endless list of sneaker purchases. Both Stans drop next week on October 9th, the lows retailing $150 and the mids for $160.
