Fidel Castro, the controversial and former leader of Cuba, made headlines recently when he met with Pope Francis in Havana.

While the rest of the world concentrated on the meeting of two of the world's most recognizable figures, sneakerheads might've had their attention drawn to something else.

Mentions of Castro immediately conjures up images of an imposing figure dressed in military fatigues, but for his meeting with the Pope, Castro wore a bright blue adidas track jacket. Many might have found this odd, but since stepping down from his leadership role, Castro has dumped his military garb for more casual attire.

Recent photographs of Castro show the leader has an affiinity for tracksuits and according to Slate, "Castro has a collection that includes Nike, Puma, Fila and Reebok, but adidas seems to be his favorite." And what does one normally wear with tracksuits? Sneakers. Granted, we don't really know what type of kicks Castro favors, but he could be one of those types that likes to be low-key with his heat.
