Online Air Jordan releases from Nike have been on hiatus for a while now, as the company has been trying to figure out how to thwart users' efforts to gain unfair advantages in the sneaker purchasing process.
Out of nowhere, Nike ended the drought this weekend with the Air Jordan 9 "Statue," which it sent out a link for via Tweet.
According to Nike's responses to confused customers on Twitter who were surprised to see the Jordan 9s hit the site, only select pairs will be available as Nike continues to search for solutions to bots.
It's possible that Nike's approach going forward will be to keep quiet about online Air Jordan releases until the morning of, effectively keeping bot users in the dark about what products to expect on the site. Here's to hoping Nike figures it out.
