The Air Jordan 9 "Statue" is inspired by the statue of Michael Jordan, known as The Spirit, that stands outside the United Center in Chicago.
The special tag on the inside of the tongue makes it clear here. There it reads "November 1, 1994," which is the date that the statue was unveiled. The sneaker features a speckled military green color, which is meant to mimic the shade of MJ's Jordan 9 sneakers from the bronze icon.
The "Statue" Jordan 9s have a release date of August 22.
