In November 2004, MTV aired an episode of the celebrity home show Cribs featuring rapper Fat Joe. In the episode, Joe took the cameras into his sneaker room, where he showed off rare pairs from his personal collection. Among the highly collectible sneakers was the original ‘Olympic’ Air Jordan 7, which had just been retroed for the first time and still fetched a pretty penny on “the eBay.” To emphasize that the sneakers were unworn and factory laced, Joe licked the soles, changing sneaker culture forever.

Taking a stroll down memory lane yesterday, Joe re-posted several photos of fans licking the soles of their sneakers with the hash tag #Cribs. It didn’t quite turn into planking or the Harlem Shake, and probably never will, but the fact that we’re still talking about the Cribs appearance 11 years later cements its status as an all-time great sneaker moment.

(By the way, who DIDN'T get 'Legend Blue' 11s?)
