The Nike Cortez is one of those sneakers that's got a real deal pop culture cache that transcends the world of the sneaker-obsessed.

The sneakers famously appeared on feet for Forrest Gump in the move of the same name, helping him to do all that running. Beyond that the shoe is an important one for Nike's history, as it hails from the era when Phil Knight was still working as a salesman for Asics (hence the overlap between the Cortez and the Asics model that's now known as the Corsair). The shoe's return this month holds true to the original with an all-leather upper and an exposed foam tongue.

The Nike Cortez Forrest Gump sneakers in this iconic red, white, and blue colorway will release on Feb. 28 for $100.
