This new adidas D Rose 5 creation, like a handful of adidas releases before it, looks to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for inspiration.
The design features Abdul-Jabbar's likeness etched into the tongue label, as well as words and figures relating to his storied career spun into almost every surface on the shoe. There is some speculation that this pair is part of a wider-ranging "Black History Month" collection, which would make sense given the extent to which big brands have made those collections a yearly tradition, plus the black/gold palette is one that's often been associated with "BHM" sneakers. The adidas D Rose 5 "BHM" release date is Jan. 30, 2015.
