It's been well documented that Robert Kraft has become fond of the Nike Air Force 1. The New England Patriots owner, who has a net worth of $2 billion has been spotted rocking a pair for most of the NFL season, and was even gifted a bedazled pair by former Pats cornerback Ty Law back in August.

The Boston Globe covered Kraft's new infatuation for the iconic Nike sneaker, which led to the release of today's release of the "New England Patriots" Lunar Force 1. “It’s just a fun thing that’s blossomed and evolved into something I didn’t expect,” Kraft told the Globe. “It certainly wasn’t planned.”

The NFL owner was experiencing foot pain three years ago, where he asked his team to reach out to Nike to design something comfortable for him. The brand then hooked up Kraft with Lunar Force 1s, that Kraft started to wear non-stop.

“I’ve worn them with black tie, with jeans and a sports jacket, with a T-shirt and shorts,” Kraft said. “People stop me on the street and tell me how cool they look. I’ve had inner-city kids tell me how hip I am.”

When Kraft linked up with Nike CEO Mark Parker this past May at an event at Boston College, Parker broached the idea of creating an owners model for Kraft. The rest is, as they say, history, with the New England Patriots Lunar Force 1 dropping earlier today.
