In Mexico's incredible wealth of indigenous history, the Huichol have their place as a native people that have survived Franciscan mission and Spanish colonialism and retained their language and customs throughout the centuries. In the mountainous regions of Jalisco and Nayarit they continue to live much as they have, largely isolated from and sometimes mingling with modern life. Known for their yarn painting and objects decorated with beads, Huichol art is an intricate craft blending embroidery, beading and color into inimitable pieces. In a prolific Vault collaboration, Vans celebrates Huichol tradition with a Classic Slip-On LX and Sk8-Hi LX donning the vibrant hues of a vibrant culture.

The Classic Slip-On LX comes features a black-based upper with a hand embroidered multi-color checkerboard design on the toe and back heel, highlighting the exceptional yarn painting technique. The Sk8-Hi LX features a black-based premium suede upper with a hand beaded Sidestripe overlays and ankle pendant on the back heel. This collection is limited to 360 pairs each worldwide.

The Huichol x Vans Vault Capsule Collection will be available at select Vans Vault retailers including the Vans DQM General New York and Boston locations, Blends, Bodega, Conveyor, Darkside Initiative, Opening Ceremony, Proper and St. Alfred on Saturday September 20. Retail is set at $150 for the Classic Slip-On LX and $180 for the Sk8-Hi LX.
