In a new weekly look back at some of the classic photos from the decade long history of Sole Collector Magazine, we'll be uncovering some of the best samples, player exclusives and rarities seen in print.

This pair seen below actually covers all of those bases, as it's a production sample of the Nike Ultraposite featuring the iconic 1 Cent logo.

Not only is the upper of the Aaron Cooper-designed 'Posite sneaker quite different from what would eventually release -- there's no zippered shroud here -- there's also a canvas base.

More importantly, is it possible that during the earliest stages of design for the Ultraposite that the shoe was being created as a Penny Hardaway signature model?

Take a look for yourself below at this sample from the early 2000s, and stay tuned for more blasts from the magazine's past from SC Classic.
