The most revered footwear designer of his time, Tinker Hatfield has put the pen to paper for some of the greatest footwear concepts of all-time. Near the top of that list would be Nike's Air Trainer 1, which became the foundation of the brand's line of cross-trainers when it launched in 1987. While the shoe continues to flood the market in original and new colroways today, few people can claim ownership to its origins.
Earlier this month, user mschang808 decided to list an autographed copy of Hatfield's Air Trainer 1 sketch on eBay. The sketch is dated 7/24/86 and was faxed to Mark Parker and Steve Mellor for approval. Safe to say they liked what they saw.
You can buy this autographed copy of the sketch now on eBay. Oh yeah, it'll run you $145,000 bucks.
