To commemorate the return of the Stan Smith, adidas has teamed up with several Asia-based designers through its Consortium tier to offer unique takes on the iconic silhouette.
Yohji Yamamoto, designer of the Y-3 sportswear collection, brings unique aesthetic from his Y's range for this special edition of the Stan Smith. The shoe retains its sleek, simple silhouette, but receives material upgrades in the form of thick navy canvas on the lateral and medial quarters, grey suede accents on the eyestay and heel tab and smooth white lather on the toebox and tongue. Hand-stitched zig-zag embroidery replaces the original perforated 3-Stripes, with threads overhanging the midsole. The heel bears a Stan Smith callout and debossed Trefoil branding, while an oversized Y's logo is displayed across the tongue.
The Y's Stan Smith will hit select adidas retailers in the coming weeks for $180.
