Can you believe it's already March? Let's see what our forum members shared with us in this edition of "Pickups of the Week!"
Highlighting this week is Sativa510 and his latest pickup of the Air Jordan 9 Bin 23. The Bin 23 series started in 2010 and ended abruptly in 2011. There were 5 pairs of Air Jordans released in the series - 2, 9, 7, 13 & 5 (in that respective order). It was to showcase fine crafted materials at a higher retail price point. The wax stamping is carried over from wine culture. Each barrel is assigned a particular lot, vintage series or bin.
When wine is conceived, there are sometimes wax stamps embossed onto bottles used to identify the bin in which it came from. Carrying over to sneaker culture, each shoe came in a tan Jordan Brand box with its own cloth bag and individually numbered. We're not sure why the series was discontinued. Perhaps we'll see a continuation of the collection sometime down the line.
