Flashback // Shawn Kemp in the Reebok Kamikaze I

Flashback to 1994 to witness the Reignman wearing the OG Reebok Kamikaze.

words // Zack Schlemmer

The year was 1994, and the baddest and boldest shoe to ever hit the hardwood was on Shawn Kemp's feet as he reigned terror down on his opponents.  You could barely catch a glimpse of his feet during the game between his vicious in-your-face dunks and alley-oop catches from Gary Payton, but luckily play had to stop sometimes for timeouts and free throws.  And that's when you trained your eyes on Kemp's kicks with their electrifying zig-zag striping and thought to yourself, "I gotta get a pair of those!"

If you didn't get a pair back in the day or have the foresight to stock up on a couple of pairs in your adult size, you've had to wait 20 years for the Reebok Kamikaze to finally be back on the shelves.  But that just makes their first ever re-release today even sweeter.  To celebrate the return of Kemp's first signature shoe, we dug up all the pictures we could find of The Reignman rocking his original pairs on court during the 1994-95 NBA season.  Enjoy!
