Today, adidas announced that it has teamed up with award-winning Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto to launch a limited edition version of the adizero F50 cleat.

The new Y-3 cleat is the latest in a line of special soccer releases, following the White Copa Mundial and Enlightened Pack.

Players expected to wear the Yamamoto adizero F50 this weekend include David Alaba of FC Bayern Munich, Lucas Moura of Paris Saint Germain, Mauro Icardi of Inter Milan, Gyasi Zardes of LA Galaxy, Jonny Steele of New York Red Bulls and Naohiro Ishikawa of FC Tokyo.

Featured on the front of the cleat are a pair of imperial lion dogs, known as guards of the emperors of Japan in ancient times. The traditional design has been placed in context of Japan's modern sci-fi culture, creating a spiritual conniption between past and future.

A limited run of the Yohji Yamamoto adizero F50 is available today at adidas.com.
