Vintage Ad: Nike Air Trainer Max '96

An original print ad for the Nike Air Trainer Max '96.

Even with a retro release two years ago, the Nike Air Trainer Max from 1996 remains a somewhat forgotten model from Nike Training.  Based on looks alone, this big and beefy Air Max Trainer (think of it as the Air Max '96 on steroids) definitely looks like it should command more attention than it does.  Standing out as one of the highest cross-trainers from Nike ever (perhaps the highest), the 1996 Air Trainer Max is a bit of an oddity in the mainly low and mid top offerings from the brand.

It's hard to say why the Air Trainer Max '96 isn't more well-known.  Like its wild training brethren, the Air Carnivore, maybe its design is just a bit too radical for most people. Whatever the case, today we're here to give it a little of the attention it deserves with this look at the shoe's original print ad from the classic "Phone Number" series.
