Though the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest has had a problem drawing stars in recent years, the same can't be said for the Three-Point Contest. Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson and Stephen Curry are just some of the players who have participated in the last decade. This year's field was headlined by Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, who not only brought some star power to the contest, but walked away with the trophy at the end.
Irving caught fire in the final round to beat out sharpshooter Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs. Kyrie's 23 overall points and 10-consecutive threes made were both good for fourth all-time on the final round list. Not only is Irving one of the league's most exciting stars, he's also starting to add some hardware to his soon-to-be-filled trophy case.
The three-point contest was almost an all-Nike affair; Irving, Ryan Anderson and Paul George wore PE colorways of the Lunar Hyperdunk. Steph Curry shot in a Hyperfuse 2012 PE, while Steve Novak competed in the Lunar Hypergamer. Breaking things up a bit was the "Red Rocket" Matt Bonner, who stuck with his trusty New Balance 8025s.
