Charlotte's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist probably isn't on many short lists for NBA Rookie of the Year, but he's putting together a solid first year campaign and filling up stat sheets the way many expected. The versatile small forward is averaging 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a block in about 25 minutes of action per night for a Bobcats team best described as a work in progress. While MKG hasn't fully broken out just yet, he's certainly had some plays that'll get you out of your seat, including a poster dunk at home against the Pistons last night.
With just about 3 minutes left in a closely contested game, Kidd-Gilchrist received a pass from Gerald Henderson above the free throw line, drove down the lane and gave what the NBA calls the "salon treatment" to Pistons big man Greg Monroe. Kidd-Gilchrist ended the game with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks, but the Bobcats fell short 105-99.
