It'd be an understatement to say that things have gotten off to a disappointing start for the UCLA Bruins and top recruit Shabazz Muhammad this season. Shabazz sat out the team's first three games after being ruled ineligible by the NCAA. Since being reinstated a week ago, the Bruins have went just 1-2, including a disappointing 70-68 defeat at the hands of Cal Poly last night. Shabazz has played solid ball in his three outings, but squandering an 18-point lead to a team projected to finish near the bottom of a weak conference isn't exactly encouraging for UCLA moving forward.
There was a bit of a silver lining for UCLA in last night's upset - Shabazz's kicks! Muhammad rocked a Bruins exclusive colorway of Derrick Rose's adidas 773 team model. The shoe features a light blue SprintWeb-based upper with contrasting yellow and white accents throughout. We'll probably never see this colorway hit retail in an official capacity, but adidas' college exclusives have had a way of trickling out to stores like Ross and Marshalls. Keep an eye out.
