Dwyane Wade described it best; NBA Media Day is like the first day of school. After a summer away from the game, players line up brand new gear, crack open a few new sneaker boxes and prepare to head back to work. You're interested in seeing how some of your friends changed over the summer (hopefully more like Kevin Love and less like Raymond Felton) and busy extending a hand to the new kids on the block. Other than the $100 million dollar contracts, pretty much exactly like school.
Media Day 2012 started with the Heat, Clippers, Celtics and Mavericks last Friday and continued through Monday with the remaining teams. We saw familiar faces in new places, rookies getting acquainted with their new situations, new unis, new teams and most importantly - new kicks.
The Media Day sneaker lineup consisted of models from Nike, Jordan, adidas, Reebok, Under Armour, Spalding, Le Coq Sportif, Li-Ning, PEAK and ANTA. Dwight brought stripes to LA; Russy teased a move to the Jordan Brand; Blake stayed put in Nike; and D-Wade gave one more run to his Jordan sig before the official Li-Ning announcement.
