Taking the road less traveled, adidas Basketball bypasses the predictable red and green Christmas scheme for Derrick Rose's D Rose 3 signature shoe. Instead, the concept is pulled from Tim Burton's holiday classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, which first hit theaters in October of 1993. In short, the film tells the story of Jack Skellington, the self-proclaimed Pumpkin King of "Halloween Town" who opens a portal to "Christmas Town" and decides to celebrate the holiday. Nightmare was welcomed by critical and financial success and is reissued annually in Disney Digital 3D format.
The "Nightmare Before Christmas" Rose 3 sports an anodized purple upper with muted Burton-inspired graphics throughout. Black fills the inner lining, padding and SprintFrame, while striped laces secure the fit and moonlight yellow branding runs down the heel. The back of the tongue is embroidered with the date 12/24/12, a reference to the film's Christmas Eve setting and the release date of this pair. Below, a heavily speckled midsole and translucent rubber outsole provide the final touches on the most unique Rose shoe we've seen to date.
As stated, the "Nightmare Before Christmas" Rose 3 drops in limited quantities on Monday, December 24. Retail will be $180.
