The ultra-light New Balance 1600 is not only 5.8 ounces, it was created with enough cushioning to function as a marathon flat. Its upper is made of a synthetic/mesh, and was designed to be lightweight, while still providing support.
As for the cushioning, the shoe features REVlite RC, which is a more high density version of their standard REVlite. This shoe is available now through Tres Bien.
