The 2012 BET Awards was ironically the show's 12th Annual installment, and the event was a fairly star-studded affair. Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music opened the show with a live performance of their lead single "Mercy," which 'Ye followed with an a capella version of his verse from "New God Flow." In the verse he makes a controversial claim that his Yeezys have 'jumped over the Jumpman.' Bold, but what else can we expect from the boisterous Chi-Town wordsmith? Other highlights included Spike Lee joining Samuel L. Jackson for a parody performance of "...in Paris," the return of D'Angelo, a moving tribute to the late Whitney Houston, Soulja Boy weeping and as we all predicted - a closing performance of "Cashin' Out" by Cash Out himself. Doesn't get much better than that.
Here, we're all about the footwear, and there were definitely some kicks worth mentioning spotted at last night's show. The night was dominated by "high-fashion" sneakers, including pairs by Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen, Giuseppe Zanotti, Pierre Hardy and more. Of course, the aforementioned Yeezy 2 turned up on the feet of a couple of showgoers. Wale debuted the "Phoenix" colorway of the upcoming Nike Air Penny V. Chris Brown performed in "Playoff" Jordan 12s and matching body paint. Rick Ross and Meek Mill represented their respective endorsed brands. Fittingly, Cash Out closed the show in LeBron 9s.
Keep an eye out for these kicks and more in this BET Awards 2012 edition of Sole Collector Celebrity Sneaker Watch.
