Nike and Rei Kawakubo's Dover Street Market have teamed up for a new Air Force 1 collaboration celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic sneaker.
The Nike x DSM Air Force 1 arrives in both navy and ecru colorways, and features, for the first time in Nike footwear material history, a Ventile fabric upper. Ventile, developed in Manchester, England during World War II, is a woven cotton fabric that is both waterproof and windproof. The Ventile story connects with the year 1948, when London played host to the first post-war Olympic Games.
The shoe's Tyvek tongue tab features the number combo "17-18," a nod to both race numbers worn by runners and the address of the DSM London shop.
The Nike x Dover Street Market Air Force 1 will release tomorrow, July 20, at Dover Street Market Ginza, followed by a July 28 release at Dover Street Market London. Select Nike Sportswear accounts will release the shoe in mid-August.
