Classic Commercial: Nike 1996 Olympics Ad

It's a retro Olympics ad today with a full lineup of Nike athletes and a look at the Air More Uptempo.

words // Zack Schlemmer

It's only appropriate that during the current Summer Olympics we take a look back at a commercial from previous games.  In this Nike ad from 1996 we see a large lineup of Nike athletes that competed in the 1996 games in Atlanta.  Michael Johnson, Carl Lewis, Andre Agassi, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Penny Hardaway, Jackie Joyner Kersey...the list goes on.  In this commercial we get an intense look at the attitude and effort it takes to become an Olympic athlete set to "Search and Destroy" by Iggy and the Stooges.

Although we see a variety of athletes and sports, the only shoe we get a good look at is the Nike Air More Uptempo in its original black and white colorway. It would later be worn in the '96 games, of course, by Scottie Pippen in the famous Olympics colorway.
