After making rounds online as a Dwyane Wade Player Exclusive last week, we now get the lowdown on this Air Jordan 2011 from the designer himself. In late 2011, Michael Jordan was scheduled to fly to Australia for a golf tournament, but the NBA Lockout prevented him from making the trip. Before the cancellation, Aussie customizer Sekure D was tapped by Gentry Humphrey and the Jordan Brand to work on a special colorway of the 2011 for MJ himself.
Photos of the Australia Air Jordan 2011 aren't of the finished product, but rather a first run sample that was produced before the project was shelved. Sekure took the concepts of QUICK, AIR and EXPLOSIVE and translated them into a red kangaroo-inspired design. What you don't see is the tan reverse stitching, midsole and outsole speckle and info pouch that he planned on adding to the final version.
Wade ended up replacing Jordan on the trip and wore these shoes at an event, hence the confusion over the past week.
Check out Sekure's full write-up on the project for every last detail on the project over at GStreet.
