Maison Martin Margiela Rubber German Army Trainers

You've seen plenty of gum outsoles. Get ready for an all-gum-everything sneaker.

Words // Zac Dubasik

Gum outsoles have enjoyed a passionate following in the sneaker world, but Margiela has taken the concept about five steps further with this interpretation of the German Army Trainer, from their F/W 2012 collection. It's aways exciting to see what new twists Margiela will add to the popular GAT, and this might even top the patent-to-suede gradient versions from last year as the most interesting yet. The outside of the upper is all rubber, but the lining is the standard premium calf/lamb found on more traditional versions. If you are ready to step out in an all-gum-everything sneaker, these are available now at LN-CC for $456. Margiela's own website also has them available in an all-black version.
