Today, New Balance announced the signing of All-Star Andre Ethier to a multi-year endorsement contract. New Balance will now be the Los Angeles Dodgers' right fielder official on and off-field athletic footwear and apparel provider.

“I’ve heard great things about New Balance from close friends in the game and am excited to be part of a company so committed to their athletes.” says Andre Ethier. “I’m also glad to partner with a brand that is so willing and ready to step right in to help support my work in the Los Angeles community.”

“New Balance is thrilled to partner with Andre, an All-Star athlete who is very active in giving back to the city of Los Angeles,” says Mark Cavanaugh, general manager of sports marketing at New Balance. “New Balance shares his dedication to charitable endeavors and we are eager to support Andre on and off the field.”

To mark the launch of the partnership, New Balance will join Ethier to an event at Camelback Ranch on Saturday, March 24, prior to the Dodgers’ Spring Training game. They'll be joined by the “Going to Bat Foundation,” an Orange County-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of youth by providing opportunities to play baseball or softball. Organization founders, including 2011 New Balance Community Service Award winner Kieran Lovegrove, will be present as New Balance donates NB 4040 baseball spikes and power tops to members of the local Camelback High School Varsity baseball team. Following the donation, Ethier will participate in a meet and greet with the Camelback High School team, where he will present them with custom New Balance uniforms.

New Balance will also announce its support for Ethier’s efforts in Los Angeles to help raise awareness and funds for the LA Mission and LA Halfway house.

Throughout the upcoming MLB season, Ethier will be wearing special make-ups of the New Balance 4040 baseball cleat. Lightweight and low-profile for the game's fastest players, the MB4040 offers high performance running technologies to eliminate spike pressure and provide an athlete superior comfort and fit on the field. A new spike plate design eliminates 30% of the weight compared to the previous spike plate and a supportive overlay on the upper secures the foot during quick movements on the field.

“A comfortable, supportive shoe, like the MB4040, provides a good foundation and allows me to focus on the game and not worry about my feet,” says Ethier.

With the signing, Ethier joins players like Dustin Pedroia, Nick Swisher and Hanley Ramirez on the New Balance Baseball roster. Check out the clip below to see these players give their thoughts on the MB4040.
