With the heart of tennis season around the corner, adidas has officially launched miCoach Tennis, a brand new app for the iPhone. The app allows you to collect performance data with the miCoach SPEED_CELL, an interactive device from adidas that sits within a cavity of the adipower Barricade 7.0 tennis shoes or can be clipped onto your laces to measure speed, rallies and distance covered during your tennis matches or training sessions.

The interactive experience is led by German tennis star Andrea Petkovic, who guides you through a tennis program similar to those used by professionals. Tennis stats can be shared with friends via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail, and real-life workouts yield in-game rewards.

There's also a 3D tennis game that provides you with the opportunity to take your physical work into the digital world. Earn credits by playing virtual matches and championships and spend them in adidas apparel and footwear for your in-game avatar.

miCoach Tennis is available for free now over at iTunes. Similar training partners for basketball, football, running and general training are available as well.
