Memory Lane: Nike "McFly" Hyperdunk Supreme

Back in 2008, Nike Basketball effectively reset their category with the launch of the "McFly" themed Hyperdunk.

In many ways, the original Hyperdunk reset the entire Nike Basketball category in 2008.

You could credit Kobe Bryant's leap of an Aston Martin in the lightest-at-the-time Eric Avar design. You could probably even credit the fictitious Hyperdunk Recovery Center or the fact that it was the shoe of choice for the "Redeem Team" at the Beijing Olympics.

But the colorway that took things over the top and really got both sneaker collectors and the casual fan alike excited about the new Flywire-touting model was without question the "McFly" styled version of the Hyperdunk.

With a grey nubuck upper, pale blue accents throughout and the unmistakable "2015" font along the tongue, the extremely limited release at UNDFTD Santa Monica sold out instantly to a line of collectors camped out well in advance. Of course, it also didn't hurt that Kobe Bryant crashed the party, showing up unannounced in a DeLorean to take pictures and sign autographs.
