Last summer, Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett shocked the sneaker world when he ended his "lifetime" agreement with adidas to sign with upstart brand ANTA and capitalize on the growing Chinese basketball market. The result of the new partnership was the release of the ANTA KG 1, Garnett's first signature shoe with the brand. The mid-cut sneaker featured a midfoot cross-strap, heel pull-tab and the implementation of a new KG logo. A variety of colorways, including special Christmas and All-Star make-ups, were released exclusively in China.
For the upcoming NBA season, Garnett will be fitted with the ANTA KG 2, pictured below in home and away Boston Celtics colorways. The KG 2 features a synthetic leather and mesh build, TPU cross overlays on the side panels and small KG logos within the actual ANTA logos on the ankle. KG logos also appear on the tongue and toebox, while his number "5" is centered on the heel.
No word on when these release, but like the KG 1, these will most likely only be made available in China. Initial thoughts?
