Today, adidas Basketball officially unveiled the adidas adiZero Rose 2, the brand new signature shoe of the youngest player to ever receive the NBA’s MVP Award - Derrick Rose. The lightweight sneaker features SprintWeb technology that allows Rose to remain the league’s fastest player, while gore ankle straps provide him with additional support on his path to the rim.
"All Flights Cancelled" notation stitched on the tongue is a reference to how Derrick's play changed opposing teams' chances for the upcoming season. An airport board-style listing of rival NBA cities on the sockliner displays all the statuses as cancelled, while Chicago has been cleared for flight. The right side of the gore ankle strap features Derrick's signature and the base of the tongue sports his jersey number "1."
A synthetic and textile build was used for the adiZero Rose 2, with SprintWeb technology providing additional support and comfort. With Derrick's style of play always a risk, a dynamic ankle lock system provides additional security in the shoe. For off-court appeal, a solid leather toe cap was utilized. The shoe weighs in at just 12.4 ounces.
With the use of SprintFrame technology, an external heel counter is positioned to reduce weight, return energy and control motion. Molded EVA ensures the lightest midsole possible.
Paying tribute to Derrick's explosive style of play, adidas used a unique herringbone and volcanic traction pattern for optimum court grip.
With a size run ranging from 6-19, the adiZero Rose will officially be released in home (White/Red/Black) and away (Black/Red/White) colorways on Thursday, October 6th. Suggested retail price is $110. Five more colorways will be issued between now and December 22nd.
