Kanye West Debuts Grey "Watermelon" Nike Air Yeezy 2 Colorway at MTV Video Music Awards

words // Brandon Richard

Since images of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 first surfaced back in April (February, if you're thinking about the Black Mamba film), fans of the first Yeezy have been thirsty for new information and photos of the sequel. As a result, all eyes have been glued to Kanye's feet for every performance, public appearance and music videos. Occasionally, like when Kanye took a trip to London back in April, that results in an actual look at the new Yeezy. Other times, disappointment when he's wearing something else. Tonight at the MTV Music Videos in Los Angeles, it was a case of the former.

When Jay-Z and Kanye came out for a "surprise" performance of "Otis" off the Watch the Throne album, Kanye was spotted rocking a new grey-based colorway of the Air Yeezy 2. Reminiscent of the original, the shoe features what appears to be a glowing outsole. Also complimenting the look are Solar Red accents. Virgil Abloh commented on his Twitter account - "Ya'll know award shows are like playoffs in the Jordan era."
