For months, UK-based artist and Sole Collector friend Dave White has teased a follow-up sneaker project with the Jordan Brand. Today, that project has been unveiled.
Back in February, we here at Sole Collector partnered with White and the Jordan Brand to host exclusive auctions for an extremely limited edition run of the original Air Jordan I Retro DW. The USA and Harlem Globetrotter-inspired sneakers featured a custom Dave White stars and stripes paint job with metallic gold detailing at the toe. Those auctions, which consisted of 23 pairs, ironically raised more than $23,000 for the Jordan Brand's WINGS for the Future charity.
If you weren't able to get your hands on the Air Jordan I Retro DW, but would still like to get your hands on a pair of Dave White designed Jordans, a new "WINGS for the Future" Retro 1 is on the way. Featuring a similar look, the shoe takes on a Chicago-esque white, black and red colorway with cement grey elephant print detailing at the forefoot. Grey also takes care of the inner liner, while a black rubber outsole completes the job below. Also take notice of the "Dave White for #23" tag on the backside of the tongue.
According to White, who has been somewhat tight-lipped, these will be easier to get your hands on than the previous pair. Also, he may have dropped a release date hint on his Twitter account when he posted "1 month today it drops" on August 1st. That would put us in line for a September 1st drop.
Take a look at the new Dave White Air Jordan I Retro DW below and stick with Sole Collector for more information.
