Instead of reconsidering their approach to the H-O-R-S-E competition (as they should have), the NBA scrapped the event altogether from this year's NBA All-Star Weekend. With news of the game's omission coming fairly late in the process, it appears Nike and two-time defending champion Kevin Durant were prepared to attempt a three-peat in a wild version of his third Nike signature shoe, the Zoom KD III.
Constructed with what may be brown saddle leather, the shoe is accented by Photo Blue on the inner liner, forefoot Flywire panel and quarter panel Swoosh embroidery. Minor hits of Team Orange appear on the tongue pull-hole and a basketball-playing horse on the heel. The most eye-catching element of the shoe is horse hair sewn to the upper heel of the shoe. Completing the look is a white midsole and a gum rubber outsole.
If you remember Durant's kicks from this year's three-point shootout, it appears he wore a similar shoe, sans horse hair on the heel. Check out more photos below and let us know what you think of KD's would-have-been H-O-R-S-E sneaker.
