While most sneaker brands make a name for themselves on NBA courts, the Concept 1 from Athletic Propulsion Labs gained its notoriety for not making it to NBA courts at all. Last fall, the new model was banned from the NBA due to its use of vertical-increasing Load 'N Launch Technology, which is said to improve hops by up to 3.5 inches. What seemed like an unfortunate break for APL turned out to be a blessing, as the pro ban on the Concept 1 validated the company's promise.
After an eight month stretch that included multiple colorways of the Concept 1, mass media coverage, a buyer-friendly price reduction and a collaboration with us here at Sole Collector, APL is finally ready to introduce their follow-up model, the Concours. The new model puts a lux spin on a performance ready shoe that carries a silhouette similar to that of the Concept 1. Premium black leather takes care of majority of the upper, while quilt-stitched suede works the side panels. The midsole and branding on the tongue and heel are done in while, while the shoe is finished off with a translucent outsole.
The Concours will be available to purchase on Tuesday, May 17th at APL. Retail will be $195.
