Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard became an overnight superstar when he put on the Superman cape and took flight in the 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. However, it was this season when adidas decided to break away from the Brotherhood theme and hook the Beast up with his own signature shoe. Now wearing the adidas Superbeast, Howard will begin his next campaign (will it be in Orlando?) wearing what is tentatively known as the adidas adiPower Howard.
You'll notice right away that the shoe doesn't stray too much away from the Superbeast. Another rumored name for this shoe is the Superbeast 2, which would make a lot of sense. SprintSkin panels were said to be one of Dwight's favorite features on the last shoe, so the return of that technology was no surprise. Padded collars, visible Alive cushioning and double-stacked Z-Torsion are also returning for the adiPower. Lighter than this year's sigs, the adiPower tips the scale at 14.2 ounces.
