This year, Nike is celebrating Black History Month by producing black and gold colorways of shoes from their most notable signature basketball lines. Representing for the Jordan Brand will be the Air Jordan Retro 3, which is fitting due to the amount of sports and sneaker history that can be traced to the model. After a teaser image earlier in the day, here's a full look at the celebratory sneaker.
Black nubuck serves as the base of the shoe, getting help from a full grain leather mudguard. A perforated variation is used for the tongue and ankle border. Elephant print takes a backseat this time around, with a tonal version of the Jordan legacy print made famous by the Air Jordan XX wrapping the toebox and heel. The dark canvas allows metallic gold accents to pop off the lower and upper lace eyelets, tongue and heel. Finishing off the look is a black midsole and outsole.
Look for the "Black History Month" Air Jordan Retro 3, and similarly-themed releases, to drop as Quickstrikes next month.
