The Ultimate Kicktionary: 1988's Nike Air Flow

Take a detailed look back at the two-decade old neoprene-based Air Flow, a runner far ahead of its time.

I know what you're thinking.

That is one HELL of a toe shape.

Long before the neoprene sleekness of the Presto line had made its way into the casual rotations of collectors around the globe, the Air Flow unknowingly led the way for sockliner-based shoes.

It's somehow remarkably modern for being more than two decades old, deep flex grooves and all, and it's no surprise that the Air Flow was the perfect candidate for a marriage with two of Nike's newest technologies: Fuse and Lunar Foam. The OG and current cash cow platform and construction approach spawned the upcoming Lunar Flow from Nike Sportswear, dropping next summer.

At times forgotten during an era where newly visible Nike Air was more memorable (and marketable), the Air Flow is one of many slept on runners from the archives of Nike's past.
