World Basketball Festival Preview: Nike Hyperfuse
Built for the outdoors, several colorways of the Hyperfuse previewed ahead.
words & images_Nick DePaula Also included in the extensive World Basketball Festival media event earlier today was the Nike Hyperfuse, designed by Leo Chang and created with the goal of offering a lighter, more breathable basketball shoe for those who play outdoors. The shoe's insights were actually developed based on learnings of how basketball is played in China. In China, nearly 300 million people play the sport, and over 90% play outdoors. With the rigors of asphalt surfaces, sweltering heat and the need for their shoes to be long-lasting, the Hyperfuse hopes to solve multiple problems by delivering a durable fused-layer upper, responsive cushioning and breathable mesh ventilation. Below, enjoy a preview of several upcoming colorways of the Nike Hyperfuse. The Hyperfuse will be releasing this summer at the retail price point of $100, and features a forefoot Zoom Air unit, Phylon midsole and lateral support outriggers. Be sure to check back for an extensive interview with Nike Basketball Designer Leo Chang and Product Line Manager Charles Williams, detailing every facet of the Hyperfuse.
